The Advantage Assam 2.0 Investor Summit was opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday. Those that attended the event included the top industrialists of the country such as Mukesh Ambani, RIL Chairman, Adani Group’s Gautam Adani, and Vedanta Chairman Anil Agarwal.

During the first speech of the event, PM Modi said that Assam is strategically located, thus serving as the, “Gateway to Southeast Asia”. He has also added that the state has a vision of becoming a $150 billion economy by the year 2030 and is certain that the goal will be reached.

"I am proud that Assam is emerging as an important center for semiconductors," PM Modi said while mentioning Tata Semiconductor. This facility, according to him, will be beneficial for the entire Northeast region which he has put emphasis on.

In regards to the tech sector, PM Modi asserted that in the 21st century, all of humanity is reliant on technological development as the world progresses.

PM Modi emphasized the development’s pace in the last one decade- 90% of the population in Assam didn’t even have access to proper healthcare facilities in 2014. “In the previous decade, we constructed four additional bridges,” he stated.

With the help of ‘double engine sarkar’ interventions, the state economy has shifted from a 2.45 lakh crore economy in 2018 to almost 6 lakh crore. PM Modi indicated this change in Assam’s economy. Assam has surfaced as the state of boundless opportunities with ‘peace accords and resolved border disputes’ and will soon become the overwhelming destination for manufacturing and startups.
