The dispute surrounding the night padyatra of Premanand Maharaj in Mathura-Vrindavan continues to intensify. Protests against the event in Vrindavan have grown stronger, with the people of Braj expressing their anger toward Bageshwar Dham’s Peethadheeshwar Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri, who came to Premanand Maharaj’s defense. The residents of Braj are now demanding an apology from Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri for his statements.

Background of the Controversy

Recently, residents of NRI Green Colony on Sunrakh Road opposed the use of loud music, drums, and fireworks during Sant Premanand Maharaj’s night padyatra. Following the protest, Shri Radha Keli Kunj Ashram modified the route and format of the padyatra to address concerns. However, the issue reignited when Peethadheeshwar Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri of Bageshwar Dham supported the night padyatra and made remarks against the protesting women and residents, calling them “demons.”

Growing Opposition to Dhirendra Shastri’s Statements

Shastri further accused the protesters of being anti-Sanatan and suggested that they should leave Vrindavan and move to Delhi or elsewhere. These remarks have sparked widespread outrage among the people of Braj. Under the banner of the Rashtriya Brahmin Seva Sangh, members of the Brahmin community have strongly condemned Shastri’s statements. They have demanded that he retract his comments against the people of Braj and issue a public apology.

Call for Retraction and Warning of Action

National Brahmin Seva Sangh founder Chandra Lal Sharma and National President Acharya Anand Ballabh Goswami clarified that Brajvasis do not object to Premanand Maharaj’s night padyatra itself but oppose the loud and disruptive manner in which it is conducted. They further warned Acharya Dhirendra Krishna Shastri to take back his remarks about women and the people of Braj or face protests from the Brahmin community.

The situation remains tense as the people of Braj continue to demand accountability, making it clear that they will not tolerate disrespect toward their sentiments and traditions.
