Muzaffarnagar: 7 people including a police constable and his wife died tragically in separate road accidents in the last 24 hours on the Delhi-Dehradun National Highway in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh. According to information given by police officials, 28-year-old constable Sudhir Kumar and his 26-year-old wife Sonia, who were riding the motorcycle, died when a truck rammed into them on the Delhi-Dehradun National Highway. The official said that due to the collision, a part of the truck caught fire and the couple got trapped under the vehicle.

A fire engine reached the spot to control the fire but it was too late. Circle Officer (New Mandi) Rupali Rao said Sudhir Kumar was posted in the Moradabad district. The truck driver fled from the spot after the accident. Police said the bodies have been sent for postmortem. In another incident, officials said 25-year-old Ishwar Dayal and 28-year-old Sandeep Verma were killed when their motorcycle was hit by an unidentified vehicle near the Mahindra showroom under the Mansoorpur police station area on Tuesday. Dayal and Verma were going from Muzaffarnagar to Khatauli when the accident occurred.

According to reports, the driver of the second vehicle fled from the spot. Circle Officer Ramashish Yadav said that the bodies have been sent for postmortem. In the third incident, a speeding truck hit a motorcycle near Mansoorpur Distillery late Monday night. Three youths died in this accident, who have been identified as 26-year-old Saurabh Pal, 25-year-old Daksh Saini, and 23-year-old Krishna. The truck driver managed to escape after the incident. Police officials said that all three incidents are being investigated and efforts are being made to nab the accused drivers.
