A significant commotion erupted at the Bareilly Municipal Corporation on Friday when a heated argument between officials and members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) escalated into a physical scuffle. The chaos, which lasted for about an hour and a half, brought work at the corporation to a standstill and saw police intervention to restore order.

The confrontation began when ABVP members, led by their Mahanagar Minister, arrived at the municipal corporation to protest against the lack of cleanliness in the city's student-dominated areas ahead of the Diwali festival. They alleged that despite repeated complaints, sanitation was being neglected, particularly in areas with a high student population.

During the discussion, the situation intensified, leading to a fierce argument between the ABVP members and the corporation officials, including the Municipal Health Officer and the Chief Engineer. This verbal dispute quickly turned into a physical altercation. As the situation spiraled, the Chief Engineer reportedly took shelter in the Additional Municipal Commissioner's room to avoid the escalating conflict.

Senior officials, including the Municipal Commissioner, and police from the Prem Nagar station were alerted and arrived at the scene. They intervened to de-escalate the situation and separate the two groups. Following the intervention, discussions were held between the corporation officials and the ABVP delegation to address the sanitation concerns that sparked the initial protest.
