The Rajasthan government has taken strict action against widespread irregularities in the Rajasthan Government Health Scheme (RGHS), suspending seven doctors as of February 14, 2026. The move follows a detailed investigation into a scam involving fraudulent medical claims and unethical tie-ups with private diagnostic centers.

Key Details of the Action

The Suspensions: Seven doctors, primarily associated with Sikar Medical College and various health centers in Sikar district, have been suspended with immediate effect.

Reason for Action: Investigations revealed that these doctors were prescribing expensive, unnecessary tests (such as HbA1c, RA Factor, and Procalcitonin) to patients without clear medical justification.

The "Scam" Mechanism: It is alleged that the doctors colluded with private diagnostic centers to generate high-value bills, causing significant financial loss to the state exchequer. In many cases, tests were marked on records, but no corresponding reports or patient consultations were found.

List of Suspended Doctors

Dr. Kamal Kumar Agarwal (Superintendent, Hospital attached to Sikar Medical College)

Dr. Sunil Kumar Dhaka (Associate Professor)

Dr. Mukesh Verma

Dr. Gajraj Singh (SK Hospital)

Dr. S.S. Rathore

Dr. Sunil Sharma

Dr. Rakesh Kumar (Community Health Center, Kirwa, Sikar)

Official Investigation

The action was taken based on a report by Dr. Nidhi Patel, Project Director of RGHS, and verified by Harjilal Atal, CEO. The report highlighted a lack of transparency and serious gaps in the maintenance of medical records.

The Bigger Picture

The RGHS was designed to provide cashless treatment to state employees and pensioners. This scam has raised concerns about the misuse of government funds. Authorities have indicated that this is just the beginning of a larger crackdown, and more employees or private diagnostic centers could face action as the probe expands.
