A comprehensive campaign to update and purify the voter list has commenced across Uttar Pradesh, with approximately 1.62 lakh Booth Level Officers (BLOs) deployed for a door-to-door verification drive. This significant exercise, part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, began on November 4, 2025, and will continue until December 4, 2025. The updated list will form the basis for the upcoming 2027 Assembly elections

Under the theme 'Clean Electoral Roll, Strong Democracy,' the BLOs will visit every household to distribute and collect pre-filled enumeration forms. These forms will require voters to verify their details, such as their name, date of birth, Aadhaar number, and mobile number. It is mandatory for every voter to fill out and return this form to their respective BLO to ensure their name is retained on the electoral roll. Voters can also affix their latest passport-size photograph to the form.

The campaign provides an opportunity for citizens to make necessary changes to the voter list. This includes applying for the inclusion of new names, requesting corrections to existing entries, or seeking the deletion of names of individuals who have passed away or shifted their residence.Forms for adding new voters (Form 6), deleting names (Form 7), and making corrections (Form 8) will also be available with the BLOs.

Following the door-to-door verification, a draft voter list will be published on December 9, 2025. The public will then have a window from December 9, 2025, to January 8, 2026, to file claims and objections. After the resolution of all claims and objections by January 31, 2026, the final electoral roll will be officially published on February 7, 2026

To facilitate the process and address public queries, the Election Commission of India has activated a voter helpline number, 1950, and a "Book-a-Call with BLO" facility through the ECINET platform, allowing citizens to directly connect with their booth level officers.

Political parties have also mobilized their workers to assist in the revision process. The ruling BJP and the main opposition, the Samajwadi Party, have deployed agents at each booth to coordinate with officials and ensure an accurate voter list.
