The unity of the opposition INDIA bloc appears to be facing a strategic divergence regarding the issue of Electronic Voting Machines and the allegations of electoral fraud. While Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has been aggressively campaigning against what he terms vote theft and raising serious questions about the transparency of the current voting process, key allies within the coalition are hesitating to support this narrative. A significant instance of this internal contradiction emerged when Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) MP Supriya Sule distanced herself from the attacks on EVMs. Sule explicitly stated that she is in no position to question the credibility of the voting machines because she and her party factions secured victories in the recent elections using that very system. This refusal to back the Congress narrative highlights a logical dilemma for the alliance partners who performed well in states like Maharashtra. Sule explained that blaming the machines now would be contradictory to their own wins, effectively signaling that her party would not be joining Rahul Gandhi’s specific crusade against the Election Commission's equipment. This development indicates a lack of consensus within the opposition regarding the method of attacking the ruling government on electoral integrity issues.
