Dhaka: Mohammad Yunus, the head of the interim government who incited anarchy after the ouster of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in Bangladesh and remained silent on the violence against minority Hindus, has given a very surprising statement. Instead of accepting his failure, Mohammad Yunus has blamed the former PM for the current situation in Bangladesh. He has said that the Sheikh Hasina government “destroyed everything”. He talked about holding general elections after implementing constitutional and judicial reforms.

Bangladesh Sangbad Sanstha gave this information on Wednesday, citing Yunus’ interview given to a Japanese newspaper. Nobel Prize winner Yunus (84) said in an interview with ‘Nikkei Asia’, “We need to make extensive reforms in the economy, governance, bureaucracy and judiciary (before holding elections).” Yunus once again said that after the trial against Hasina is over in the International Crimes Tribunal in Bangladesh, India should extradite her. Yunus said, “When the verdict comes after the trial is over, we will officially request India to hand her over.”

Said- will ask for Hasina’s extradition from India

Yunus said that he would seek the extradition of Sheikh Hasina from India. He also said that under the international law signed by both countries, “India will be bound to comply with it”. The chief advisor also said that the Indian government’s concern about the safety of Hindus is not based on facts and that whatever is being said is “propaganda”. Let us tell you that relations between the two neighbouring countries have deteriorated since Sheikh Hasina was removed from the post of Prime Minister in August. India has expressed concern over the targeting of Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh. The situation has worsened after the arrest of Hindu saint Chinmay Krishna Das last week. Yunus said that he has also proposed to revive the South Asian Regional Cooperation Organization (SAARC), which is largely inactive due to tense relations between India and Pakistan.

Yunus said- we are building a new Bangladesh.

Yunus said, “We are building a new Bangladesh.” He ruled out contesting the election himself. He said I am not a politician. I have always stayed away from politics. “During Hasina’s 15-year rule, the country’s governance system was destroyed and a huge responsibility has fallen on us to re-establish it by restoring democracy, economic stability and public confidence.” He said, “Under her (Hasina) rule, democratic principles were completely disregarded. She organised fake elections for three consecutive terms without voters’ participation, declared herself and her party unopposed winners and acted as a fascist ruler.
