Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Popular travel YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra has been apprehended on suspicion of divulging sensitive details to Pakistani intelligence agents. Her arrest follows in the sequence of the comprehensive Operation Sindoor sting where 11 other individuals suspected of engaging in some form of espionage have also been detained.

Malhotra is a Hisar resident and operates the YouTube channel Travel with JO which boasts over 3.77 lakh subscribers. She allegedly maintained communication with Pakistani handlers during the recent phases of security blackouts and had also traveled to Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam three months before the region suffered a brutal terror attack.

Controversial Video Adds to Scrutiny

In the aftermath of the Pahalgam turmoil, Malhotra uploaded a startlingly dramatic video on her now-suspended Instagram account. In the clip, she accused both the Indian government and tourists for their inattentive attitude.

“Not only a government, this (terror attack) is the duty of each and every person who comes to these places… We most likely weren't vigilant enough,” are the exact words she stated.

Malhotra’s arrest has raised questions regarding the intersection of social media and national security, considering her massive online following (3.77 lakh YouTube subscribers and 1.33 lakh Instagram followers).

She also condemned any local sympathy for the terrorists saying, “If anyone is supporting these terrorists, then we are not Indian... If anyone supported those terrorists, then it is really wrong. And we are responsible for that.”
