On Tuesday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath talked about reclaiming religious places, claiming them as a part of Hindu heritage. He mentions Hindus need to reclaim the heritage that belongs to them.

When responding to last weeks state Budget, Adityanath spoke about reclaiming religious places. He boastfully declared that his government has restored over 54 shrines closed from destruction in Sambhal district due to his leadership.

In response to accusations of BJP having a “communal mindset”, Adityanath seemed defensive. He replied claiming his party follows through with its word.

To claim the truth, he stated, is a bitter pill to swallow, but he believes people should have the strength to accept reality. “Humne to wahi kiya hai, wahi kaha hai.. jo hamara hai, woh hume milna chahiye,” he continued.

While blaming the Samajwadi Party for stepping away from core beliefs of socialism by Ram Manohar Lohia, Adityanath stated India is only safe if it believes in the foundation of Ram, Krishna, and Shankar.

He even quoted Maha Kumbh and explained that the world praised the state’s ability to manage such a large event while the opposition chose to be negative. “Neither the people of the state or of this country listened to you (Opposition). This begins a countdown for you,” said Adityanath.

“You donned the hat of a communal,” said the opposition. How is communal our thoughts? Here, with Maha Kumbh, that is a celebration where everyone and anyone is free to participate irrespective of their social status, religion, or background. It is done with no prejudice to anyone,” he added.

Referring to Sambhal where five persons died and many others were injured during the violence following the protest against the survey of the Shahi Jama Masjid in Chandausi, Adityanath rejoiced that for the first time after 56 years, an event of jalabhishek was held at a Shiv temple in Sambhal on 26th February.

“Out of Sambhal alone, more than 87 places of worship (68 teerths and 19 wells) temples were said to be closed because of some damage done by vandalism to them some time back. Of those, 54 were known and has been restored,” he continued.
