A viral video showing the brazen sale and storage of illicit liquor has landed a local bootlegger in hot water in Ahmedabad. Following the circulation of the clip on social media platforms, the Shaherkotda Police launched a high-stakes raid, resulting in the seizure of illegal alcohol and the arrest of a key suspect.
Despite Gujarat's strict prohibition laws, this incident highlights the ongoing battle between law enforcement and local syndicates operating in the shadows of the city.
The Viral Video That Exposed the Operation
The crackdown was triggered when a video clip began trending on social media, showing a suspicious amount of activity and stacked liquor bottles in a residential pocket of Shaherkotda. The footage, recorded by an anonymous citizen, acted as a digital whistleblower, putting the city’s police department on high alert.
Realizing the potential for public outcry and the blatant violation of state laws, senior officials immediately dispatched a special task force to the location identified in the video.
Police Raid and Major Recovery
Upon storming the premises, the Shaherkotda police team discovered a hidden stash of both Indian-Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and country-made spirits. The operation was swift, catching the occupants off guard.
Arrests Made: One primary suspect, allegedly responsible for the distribution in that locality, has been taken into custody.
Seizure: Authorities confiscated dozens of bottles along with other incriminating evidence.
Ongoing Search: Police are currently interrogation the arrested individual to track down the supply chain and identify the "big players" who provided the stock.
Strict Warning from Ahmedabad Police
Following the raid, the Ahmedabad Police department has reiterated its "Zero Tolerance" policy toward liquor smuggling. Officials have urged citizens to continue using social media responsibly to report such activities, promising that the identity of informants will remain confidential.
"We are monitoring social media closely. Any attempt to undermine the prohibition laws in Gujarat will be met with the strictest possible legal action," stated a senior officer involved in the case.
The suspect is currently being held under the Gujarat Prohibition Act, and further raids are expected in the Shaherkotda and surrounding areas based on the leads gathered during the initial interrogation.
