
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert for several eastern and northeastern states, forecasting thunderstorms, heavy rain, and gusty winds throughout Sunday.
Regional Weather Alerts
West Bengal and Odisha: Isolated regions in Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha may see strong winds reaching speeds of 50–60 kmph, along with lightning and moderate to heavy rainfall.
Jharkhand, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh: These states are likely to experience thunderstorms and scattered rain.
Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Sub-Himalayan Regions: Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim may also face lightning and gusty winds, with wind speeds expected between 30–40 kmph.
Northeast India on High Alert
Assam and Meghalaya: Forecasts show the likelihood of heavy rainfall.
Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura: Thunderstorms and lightning are expected, and authorities have issued high alerts for public safety.
Southern States to Witness Thunderstorm Activity
Maharashtra, Kerala, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka: These regions are expected to report thunderstorm activity.
Heatwave Conditions: Isolated pockets in coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam may continue to experience heatwave-like conditions.
Weather Relief in Delhi
Temperature Drop and Duststorm: Delhi witnessed a duststorm followed by rain on Saturday, offering relief from recent high temperatures. IMD reported a maximum temperature of 35.2°C, slightly below the seasonal norm. The minimum dropped to 19°C, around two degrees below average.
Localized Cooling: Specific areas like Rajghat recorded 32.2°C, while Najafgarh saw 33.5°C. The Ridge area noted the lowest temperature at 17.6°C.
Outlook for Sunday: Mild conditions are expected to persist in Delhi-NCR, with maximum temperatures between 36–38°C and minimums between 19–21°C. Skies are expected to remain partly cloudy, and no heatwave is anticipated through Tuesday.
