Why have wolves become dangerous and cannibalistic in Bahraich? Expert said- this is not a normal incident

SP Yadav, head of the International Big Cat Alliance, said the increasing incidents of wolf attacks in about 50 villages of the Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh could be due to a disease like rabies or canine distemper virus. The exact cause can be ascertained only after adequate analysis of the captured animals, Yadav was quoted as saying by PTI news agency. Yadav said, “These are not normal incidents. The animal going mad or there must be some such reason due to which this problem has come up, this does not usually happen. I believe this is the first such incident in the last 10 years.”

Because of this wolves are becoming dangerous

Yadav said that ‘rabies’ and ‘canine distemper’ viruses sometimes change the behavior of animals, making them lose the fear of humans, “This could be one reason. To know the reason, it is important to catch the animal, analyze the sample, and properly diagnose the problem.” He said that tigers also sometimes become “man-eaters” and this is also not a normal phenomenon.

He said, “Hunting requires a lot of energy, it is not an easy task for them. So, when they get old or unable to hunt in the forest, they can target easy prey like cattle. Similarly, if their teeth are broken or their paws are injured, they attack humans or cattle only when they are disturbed.” He said that tigers usually do not hunt humans, in most cases tigers mistake people hiding in the fields for deer or other prey.

The fifth wolf caught

Let us tell you that ‘Operation Bhediya has been going on since July 17 to catch a pack of six wolves that have become synonymous with terror in 50 villages of Mahsi tehsil of Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh. So far eight people have died in the attack of these wolves while more than 20 people have been injured. The forest department team caught the fifth wolf from the pack of six man-eating wolves on Tuesday morning. Bahraich divisional forest officer Ajit Pratap Singh told ‘PTI-Bhasha’ that a wolf from the pack of man-eating wolves was caught from Harbakhsh Singh Purwa of Sisayya Chunaamani village of Mahsi tehsil at around 6:15 am today.
