Lucknow: Bahujan Samaj Party President Mayawati has given a big statement regarding One Nation One Election. Apart from this, Mayawati has also targeted Congress and Samajwadi Party. In fact, Mayawati had said on Sunday that SP and Congress should not speak on reservation. She said that when the Congress-led UPA was in power, they had colluded to oppose the bill giving reservation in promotion to SC-ST.

Mayawati supported

Actually, Mayawati has supported One Nation-One Election. She said that this will reduce expenses and public welfare works will not be stopped much. Apart from this, she also urged other parties to support it. At the same time, Mayawati demanded that reservation for SC, ST and OBC should be included in the 9th Schedule of the Constitution, so that any kind of tampering with it can be prevented. Central and state laws listed in the 9th Schedule are free from judicial review.

Targeted SP-Congress

Mayawati said that this time during the discussion on the constitution in the parliament, the ruling party and the opposition, especially Congress and SP, have said a lot of baseless things about the reservation for SC, ST and OBC classes of the country, which do not have even an iota of truth in them. She said, “It would have been better if Congress and SP had remained silent on this issue in the parliament. Because during the Congress party government, SP had strongly opposed the constitutional amendment bill related to reservation in promotion of SC, ST classes.

Appeal to other parties as well

Mayawati said that being a party of the poor and the oppressed, BSP welcomes the related bill brought by the BJP government regarding ‘One Nation-One Election’. It would be better for all parties to rise above party politics on this issue and work in the interest of the country and the general public. Let us tell you that in recent years BSP has faced continuous electoral defeat and it has only one member in Parliament and that too in the Rajya Sabha.
