While Vice President JD Vance was partaking in a White House ceremony on Monday, he accidentally released a piece of Ohio State’s national championship trophy. Apart from the Vice President, Coach Ryan Day and President Donald Trump were also present and they celebrated the 2024 title with the football team.
Trophy Mishap Goes Viral
Vance did not know that the golden football crowned on the trophy was removable and as he hoisted the trophy in celebration, it detached from the base and fell. The running back TreVeyon Henderson had the topper but the base was left rolling into the back. Other players watching the scene were astounded by the entire thing while the Marine corps were belting out “We Are the champions.”

Vance Jokes
JD Vance put out a humorous post on social media stating, “I just thought that no one should get the trophy after Ohio state and I should burn it instead.”
He took a jab at Michigan fans, hilariously pointing towards a person wearing rival colors, “I don’t know who let the guy in the Michigan hat into this celebration … Secret Service quote, he has a dangerous weapon unquote.”
Trump's Words Of Encouragement To The Team In Struggle
President Trump congratulated Ohio State for stooping their resilience during the 2024 season and said how surprising losing to an unranked Michigan team at home in November was for Him. He was impressed with how they pulled through and in the spirit of their known rivalry with “the team up north” added that they sustained a lot of those.
