Vistara, an airline company owned by Tata Group and Singapore Airlines, will operate its last flight on Monday. Vistara is going to merge with Air India, an airline company of the same group. Vistara is going to say TA-TA to the aviation world forever on November 11. With the Vistara-Air India merger, Singapore Airlines has acquired a 25.1 percent stake in the new integrated airline. Now the operation has been completely integrated under Air India.

Full-service carriers have declined from five to one in 17 years.

According to the report, however, airline officials said that although Vistara will shut down from November 12, its aircraft, routes, and crew will continue to operate at least till March. While Vistara is merging with Air India on November 11, the number of full-service carriers i.e. airlines in India has come down from five to one in the last 17 years. This change happened after the liberalization of foreign direct investment (FDI) norms in 2012. This led to the establishment of Vistara and other foreign-invested airlines.

What will happen to travel insurance?

For travel after 12 November 2024, flights will be operated by Air India. The airline has already closed bookings for travel on Vistara from 12 November 2024.
