The Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 has started between India and Australia. The first Test match is being played in Perth from November 22. Fast bowler Jaspreet Bumrah, who is captaining Team India in the absence of Rohit Sharma, won the toss and decided to bat first. Fast bowlers Harshit Rana and Nitish Reddy were handed debut caps.

The Indian innings was started by KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Jaiswal failed in his very first match in Australia. The young opener could not even open his account. He was made a victim by Mitchell Starc. After this, Devdutt Padikkal also returned to the pavilion without opening his account. After 2 young batsmen were out on a duck, Virat Kohli came to the crease to support KL Rahul.

Kohli disappointed

Kohli started playing cautiously and soon opened his account. Kohli could score only 5 runs when he was caught out at slip while trying to play a short pitch ball from Josh Hazlewood. Kohli could not read the short-pitch ball. He did not want to play the back of the length ball on the line of the off stump but due to the extra bounce the ball hit the bat and Usman Khawaja standing at slip took the catch.

In this way, Virat Kohli became the victim of Josh Hazlewood for the 10th time in international cricket. Hazlewood has now jointly become the second bowler to dismiss Kohli the most number of times. Earlier, James Anderson and Moeen Ali have also dismissed Kohli 10 times each. Not only this, Hazlewood has now become the Australian bowler to dismiss Virat Kohli the most number of times.

In this way, Kohli had to see such a day for the first time in 7 years when he could not even touch the figure of 20 runs in 5 consecutive innings in Tests.
