Vijay Sethupathi, one of the foremost actors in Tamil and Hindi cinema, gives one of his best performances in Viduthalai Part 2. As with all his films, he does not disappoint. The film, directed by Vetrimaaran, looks further into the complex and demanding themes of justice, rebellion, and suppression of Viduthalai parts one and two.
Viduthalai part one did exceptionally well in cinemas and as an online feature. Following the success of the first volume, the Hindi dubbed version of the sequel is now available on ZEE5 for more people to see. Sethupathi has made it clear that the film’s many intricate emotions paired with the deep political subtext will undoubtedly resonate with Hindi speakers, which is why the sequel is definitely a must watch.
He exclaimed, “There is no doubt the themes in Viduthalai Part 2—subjugation, revenge, and fight for freedom—are global. But there is always a cultural and social-political framework that defines how people understand a film. The Hindi-speaking audience has experienced many impactful tales of injustice and struggle but, with Viduthalai, Part 2, it is more of vividly raw and deep experience. I think the sheer brutality of the story and the real, intensely human drama in it will definitely haunt them.”
Vijay Sethupathi recently divulged more about the emotionally and physically demanding part of his role in Viduthalai Part 2, illustrating the degree of discomfort and pain he had to endure. He reasoned that every scene in a Vetrimaaran film is a challenge on its own because of the care he puts into the detail of the story. Nevertheless, one of the hardest things for him was performing, emotionally and physically, for his character, Perumal. His emotional endurance was deeply challenged by having to emotionally support Perumal’s plight.
Moreover, the grueling elements completed in harsh physical environments further tested his endurance, contributing to the film’s raw and realistic appeal. Viduthalai Part 2 is now streaming on ZEE5 in Hindi and gives all Indian viewers the opportunity to experience Vijay Sethupathi’s outstanding performance in this incredible tale of oppression, resilience, and struggle for power.
