Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan will headline the upcoming romantic comedy Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, directed by his father and veteran filmmaker David Dhawan. The film also stars actress Pooja Hegde in the lead opposite Varun. This marks another collaboration between the father-son duo, who previously worked together on films like Judwaa 2, Main Tera Hero, and Coolie No. 1.
Varun is currently occupied with the filming of Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, which also features Janhvi Kapoor, Sanya Malhotra, and Rohit Saraf. Meanwhile, Pooja Hegde was last seen alongside Shahid Kapoor in the action film Deva.
Shooting Schedule to Begin in March 2025
According to a report by Pinkvilla, the production team is set to begin shooting Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai in Dehradun, followed by Rishikesh, starting March 21, 2025. The schedule includes a special three-day shoot focusing on a river rafting sequence. An industry insider revealed, “It would be a 3-day shoot, and they would be shooting a sequence of river rafting.”
Star-Studded Cast and a Fun, Family-Oriented Plot
The film is said to be a light-hearted rom-com and family entertainer. Reports suggest that actresses Mrunal Thakur and Sreeleela will also play key roles in the movie. David Dhawan aims to recreate the comedic vibe of his iconic 90s films that featured Govinda and delivered many box office hits.
Interestingly, the film’s title echoes a hit song Hai Jawani Toh Pyaar Hona Hi Tha from David Dhawan’s 1989 film Biwi Ho Toh Aisi, which starred Salman Khan, Karisma Kapoor, and Sushmita Sen.
