The launch of this direct train service follows a massive engineering overhaul of regional railway assets. According to Sumit Kumar, Chief Public Relations Officer of the North Eastern Railway, the extensive 56.15-kilometer railway section spanning Bahraich, Nanpara, and Nepalganj Road has been successfully converted from legacy meter gauge to modern broad gauge.
Originally established way back in 1886 as a meter-gauge line, the corridor underwent a comprehensive modernization and electrification process at an estimated project cost of ₹730 crore. This infrastructural upgrade not only modernizes the transit network but also tightly knits together commercial and residential hubs like Bahraich, Rupaidiha, and Nepalganj, creating a robust economic corridor between India and neighboring Nepal.

Train No. 15132 (Varanasi to Nepalganj Road): This daily service departs Varanasi City at 10:35 PM, traversing through Mau, Bhatni, and Deoria to arrive in Gorakhpur at 4:00 AM the following morning. Continuing its journey via Anandnagar, Barhni, and Bahraich, it reaches Nepalganj Road at 11:45 AM.
Train No. 15131 (Nepalganj Road to Varanasi): The return service departs Nepalganj Road daily at 4:30 PM, moving through Bahraich, Barhni, and Anandnagar to reach Gorakhpur at 12:10 AM. Leaving Gorakhpur at 12:20 AM, it travels via Deoria, Bhatni, and Mau, finally pulling into Varanasi City at 5:30 AM the next day.
