CM Yogi Launches ₹12,000 Crore LDA Housing Projects to Build 10,600-Acre New Lucknow

In one of the largest planned township expansions in the history of Uttar Pradesh's capital, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath performed the groundbreaking ceremony (Bhoomi Pujan) for major residential schemes valued at approximately ₹12,000 crore on Thursday. Spearheaded by the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA), the mega rollout is anchored by two flagship townships—Varun Vihar and Naimish Nagar—alongside five multi-story group housing complexes valued at ₹2,166 crore. Immediately following the ceremony, the LDA opened public registrations for residential plots, marking the beginning of a massive 10,600-acre modern urban zone designed to accommodate the growing population of the state capital while setting new benchmarks for structured city planning.

Twin Townships Across 10,600 Acres: Pricing, Plot Sizes, and Prime Corridors

The ambitious dual projects represent a strategic geographical expansion designed to ease density across central Lucknow and provide fully serviced civic infrastructure:

Varun Vihar Township: Spread over an expansive 6,500 acres in Kakori, positioned along the high-speed Agra Expressway corridor to ensure seamless intercity connectivity.

Naimish Nagar Scheme: Spanning approximately 4,100 acres across the Sitapur Road-IIM Road belt, catering to the burgeoning northern growth corridor of the capital.

Affordable Pricing Structure: LDA has benchmarked residential plot rates between ₹2,800 and ₹3,800 per square foot, providing transparent entry points for middle-class homebuyers.

High-Rise Living Integration: The foundation stone was simultaneously laid for five distinct multi-story apartment developments with an earmarked investment of ₹2,166 crore to deliver high-density vertical living options.

SCR Vision and Countering Unplanned Growth: Integrating Six Surrounding Districts

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath underscored that the state's urban development model has moved beyond merely parcelling out raw land plots:

State Capital Region (SCR) Integration: The Chief Minister highlighted that the planned urban blueprint will seamlessly link Lucknow with five neighboring districts—Unnao, Hardoi, Sitapur, Barabanki, and Rae Bareli. This integrated regional zone will focus on world-class mobility, education, medical tourism, and modern IT corridors.

Ending Unplanned Urban Chaos: Criticizing legacy practices where private colonizers sold fragmented farmland without roads, power grids, or drainage, CM Yogi stated that unplanned development causes severe long-term distress to the public through persistent waterlogging and traffic congestion.

Sustainable Master Planning: He reiterated that every sector within the 10,600-acre expansion is engineered with comprehensive drainage networks, dedicated utility corridors, commercial zones, and rapid transit access to ensure sustainable living for future generations.
