Additional Chief Secretary Shri B.L. Meena stated that the guiding principle behind Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya's visionary approach is "the development of rural areas, paving the way for the holistic development of Uttar Pradesh." The department is continuously working on the ground with this very resolve and vision. The 'Uttar Pradesh Food Processing Industry Policy-2023' is rapidly accelerating the pace of industrial development in the state.
He further added that the establishment of food processing units in rural areas would generate large-scale direct and indirect employment opportunities for local youth and women. This would foster self-reliance among women and strengthen the rural economy. Farmers would secure better prices for their crops locally, leading to increased incomes and propelling Uttar Pradesh rapidly towards becoming a developed state. He placed special emphasis on compliance with conditions regarding raw material availability, supply from local farmers, production capacity, environmental and pollution control certifications, and other necessary statutory clearances; instructions were issued to the concerned units to provide the requisite documents and certificates. Additionally, the potential to boost investment in the state's food processing sector, enhance value addition to agricultural produce locally, and create employment opportunities through the submitted proposals was also deliberated upon.
