Suspense crime, Digital Desk : The Uttar Pradesh government, under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has taken a significant step to support young individuals exiting the Agnipath scheme by announcing a 20% reservation for former Agniveers in the state's police force. This move aims to provide them with stable and respectable employment opportunities after their four-year tenure in the armed forces.
Chief Minister Adityanath highlighted that this initiative is designed to offer a better future for the youth who serve the nation through the Agnipath scheme, ensuring they can continue to contribute to society and remain connected to the mainstream. The decision follows instructions from the Chief Minister to the Principal Secretary (Home) to implement the necessary provisions for this reservation.
The Agnipath scheme, a central government initiative, recruits "Agniveers" into the Indian armed forces for a four-year period. Upon completion of this term, 25% of each batch will be offered permanent commission, while the remaining 75% will be demobilized with a financial package and skill certificates.
Uttar Pradesh's decision to reserve police jobs for these individuals is seen as a proactive measure to facilitate their smooth transition into civilian life and leverage the discipline, training, and national service experience they gain during their military stint. This policy is expected to not only benefit the Agniveers by providing them with a secure career path but also strengthen the UP Police force with skilled and dedicated personnel.
This move by UP aligns with similar initiatives taken by other states, including Uttarakhand, Assam, Haryana, and Madhya Pradesh, which have also announced reservations or preferential treatment for Agniveers in their respective state government jobs, particularly in law enforcement. The goal is to create a supportive ecosystem for these young ex-servicemen and women, recognizing their contribution to national security.
