As temperatures soar across Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has chaired a high-level review meeting to tackle the intensifying heatwave. With the mercury crossing the 45°C mark in several districts, the CM has issued a state-wide alert and made a special appeal to the public to prioritize their health and safety during the peak summer hours.

CM Yogi’s Special Appeal to Citizens

During the review, CM Yogi emphasized that prevention is the best defense against heat-related illnesses. He urged citizens to avoid stepping out between 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM unless absolutely necessary. "The safety of every citizen is our priority. Stay hydrated, wear light clothing, and keep your heads covered," the Chief Minister stated, while also directing officials to ensure that no person or animal suffers due to a lack of water or shade.

Instructions for Local Administration and Jal Nigam

The Chief Minister has passed strict orders to the local bodies and the Jal Nigam to ensure an uninterrupted supply of drinking water.

Pyaos (Water Booths): Activation of public drinking water stations in markets and crowded areas.

Urban Maintenance: Repair of all faulty handpumps on a priority basis.

Animal Welfare: Filling of water troughs (charis) in forests and rural areas for cattle and wildlife.

Emergency Medical Preparedness

Recognizing the risk of heatstrokes (Loo), the Health Department has been put on high alert. Special Heatwave Wards have been set up in district hospitals and community health centers (CHCs). Medical officers have been instructed to ensure an adequate stock of ORS packets, cooling equipment, and essential medicines to treat patients showing symptoms of dehydration or heat exhaustion.

Power Supply and Fire Safety

To provide relief to the public, the CM has directed the Power Department to minimize load shedding, especially during the night. Additionally, with the dry weather increasing the risk of fire incidents, the Fire Brigade has been asked to remain vigilant, particularly in sensitive areas like wheat fields and industrial zones, where accidental fires can cause massive damage.
