Former US President Donald Trump has declared that the pardons issued by Joe Biden’s administration are “void, vacant, and of no further force or effect.” Trump made the statement on X, arguing that the pardons were executed using an autopen, a device that replicates a person’s signature, without Biden’s direct knowledge or approval.
According to Trump, “Sleepy Joe Biden gave pardons to the Unselect Committee of Political Thugs and many others using the autopen, without knowing anything about them.” He further asserted that “Biden did not sign them himself, nor were the necessary documents explained to or approved by him.”
Allegations of Misuse and Calls for Investigation
Trump suggested that those involved in the signing process may have committed a crime. He specifically targeted members of the Unselect Committee, accusing them of destroying and deleting evidence related to investigations against him and others. Trump warned that these individuals “should fully understand that they are subject to investigation at the highest level.”
He also criticized Biden, calling him the “Worst President in the History of our Country” and alleging that the autopen was used to sign important documents without his knowledge or consent.
Autopen Usage Controversy in the White House
The controversy over the autopen’s use in the Biden administration has led to increased scrutiny. Reports suggest that Biden’s signature may have been applied indiscriminately to official documents by staff, raising concerns about potential misuse.
In response, Trump’s administration has reportedly tightened restrictions on autopen use. The New York Post cited insiders stating that under Trump’s leadership, the device would only be used in limited cases, such as when multiple copies of a document require signing. According to an internal memo by Trump staff secretary William Scharf, “The President personally signs all documents in the presence of witnesses. The autopen is used only with explicit presidential approval and under strict oversight.”
