Bahraich: A major action has been taken in the case of violence in Bahraich, UP. Bahraich’s Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural), Pavitra Mohan Tripathi has been removed. The Additional Superintendent of Police has been attached to the DGP office. Durga Prasad Tiwari has been made the new Additional Superintendent of Police of the district.
What happened in Maharajganj of Bahraich?
There was a clash between two parties during the immersion of the idol of Maa Durga. The dispute started over playing DJ. After this, there was a lot of violence. After arson and stone pelting, firing started. 22-year-old Ram Gopal Mishra was hoisting a saffron flag on the roof of a house during this time. Meanwhile, he was shot. Ram Gopal died while being taken to the hospital.
After Ram Gopal’s death, the uproar increased. The family members took his body and started protesting. Other people were also with them. During this, the rioters set many houses on fire. Hospitals, showrooms, and cars were also burnt. In the end, the STF chief had to disperse the crowd with a pistol. After this, the situation slowly became normal. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had assured strict action against the culprits.
CM Yogi himself kept taking updates on the Bahraich case every moment. Top officials were sent to the field amidst the violence. Actually, the law and order of Yogi Raj was directly challenged in Bahraich. CM Yogi Adityanath became active immediately after the stone pelting. CM Yogi gave an ultimatum to those spoiling the atmosphere in Bahraich and said that whoever committed the crime would not be spared.
All the five accused in the case of riots in Maharajganj of Bahraich were sent to judicial custody for 14 days. On the morning of Friday, 18 October, the accused were produced before CJM Pratibha Chaudhary, where all the accused were sent to judicial custody for 14 days. Five people including Abdul Hameed, Sarfaraz alias Rinku, and the husband of the village head were produced before the Judges Colony located at the city’s water tank. After this, all were sent to the district jail. Police station in-charge Hardi Kamal Shankar Chaturvedi said that they have been jailed for 14 days. After this, they will be taken on remand.
