Washington D.C. – In a concerning sign of growing geopolitical strains, U.S. President Donald Trump remarked on Friday that he has ordered the relocation of two nuclear submarines following what he termed “highly provocative comments” made by Russia's Security Council's Deputy Chairman, Dmitry Medvedev.

In what seemed to be a direct response to Medvedev's comments, Trump, in his usual style, posted on his Truth Social account, “I have ordered two Nuclear Submarines to be positioned in the appropriate regions, just in case these foolish and inflammatory statements are more than just that.” He further shared that, “In the end, all parties involved have something to lose, which I hope keeps the foray from spiraling out of control.”

Trump’s and Medvedev’s conversation comes after an impactful period of trade tensions with India. Just days prior, the U.S President had implemented a 25 percent tariff on Indian goods claiming India's proximity to Russia through Indian purchases of Russian oil and weaponry. Trump had also, quite famously, remarked that he had no incentive to care about trade with India and Russia as their trade volume with the U.S. was quite insignificant. However, simultaneously he was warning Medvedev to be careful of his comments, threatening that he was getting into “very dangerous territory.”

In answer to Trump’s comments, the former Russian President Medvedev wondered how much it took to provoke the US commander in chief by a “jittery reaction” of a former Russian president. He went on to Russia’s possible “Dead Hand” nuclear capabilities, a cold war reference to an automated system that was talked about decades ago. In his remarks, it was as if Medvedev was enjoying the opportunity to tease the U.S president while declaring that Russia would indeed be on its own path.

Although it is not clear exactly how Trump would handle the submarines, it is evident that he would follow through with his threats in some militarily significant way, however futile. Military disputes, however, would not be the only areas where he would make moves. Tsemilyshynie, as a means of showcasing readiness, he would showcase some militaristic readiness. Cover” withdrawn Medvedev is a current Russian politician in the form of the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, a position he obtained in the year 2020.

The United States is now strategically making moves that show clearly Washington intends to apply some form of geopolitical compass on certain states right in the middle of the Russian economical orbit.
