Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Former U.S. President Donald Trump has once again claimed that his personal intervention was all that stood between India and Pakistan engaging in a devastating nuclear war during his time in office. Speaking at a high-dollar fundraising event, Trump revived his dramatic account of de-escalating a major crisis between the two nuclear-armed South Asian rivals.
"They were going at it," Trump told donors, describing a "big problem" that he alleges he personally "straightened out." Emphasizing the gravity of the situation, he added, "It could have easily gone nuclear."

"I did something that people don’t talk about very much, but we solved a big problem, a nuclear problem potentially, with India and Pakistan.
They have really great leaders...

While Trump did not specify the exact incident, his remarks are believed to refer to the intense military standoff in February 2019. The crisis began after a Pakistan-based terrorist group killed 40 Indian paramilitary police in a suicide bombing in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir. In response, India launched retaliatory airstrikes on a suspected terrorist training camp deep inside Pakistan's territory in Balakot. The situation escalated further when Pakistan retaliated, leading to an aerial dogfight and the capture of an Indian Air Force pilot.
This is not the first time Trump has made this assertion. He has previously recounted how he was central to cooling down the situation. While neither Indian nor Pakistani officials have ever confirmed Trump's version of events, his former Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, did write about the tense period in his memoir. Pompeo described being awakened by an Indian official who believed Pakistan was preparing its nuclear weapons for use, a fear the U.S. team worked through the night to de-escalate.
Trump's repeated claims serve to bolster his foreign policy credentials as he campaigns for a return to the presidency, painting a picture of himself as a decisive leader who single-handedly prevented a global catastrophe. However, the account remains a largely unverified, personal narrative of a volatile chapter in India-Pakistan relations.
