In Tinder’s latest survey, the company has released findings exploring how modern dating is changing, especially for young Indian women. In advance of International Women’s Day, Tinder has released “Her New Dating Rulebook,” which highlights the shifting dating norms. These emerging dating practices emphasize safety and respect, having deeper connections rather than shallow features, and prioritizing attraction.

A staggering number, 44% of women, was excited to met new people and experienced what their peers wanted at a stunning 38%. Pervasive norms of men footing the bill on dates seem to be declining as well, as just 23% of women deemed it necessary. Modern dating is instead centered around respect and common values.

According to Tinder's survey, 51% of young women believe modern-day chivalry is simply not ghosting somebody, with showing up on time being part of it. 36% of respondents value attention on a date more than paying for the door to be opened.

This shift away from expectations is accompanied by basic support that a partner offers. While 31% expect simple appreciation for all people, 36% view a supportive partner as someone who actively encourages professional ambition.

Standardized Safeguarding

More than half of young female users still report feeling safe as a top priority, as inappropriate contact through messaging would easily lead to a user being unmatched. Interaction ‘Are You Sure?’ as well as ‘Does This Bother You?’ powered through Tinder's AI help stop reports to receive and unwanted interaction.

44% of women also appreciate genuineness of profiles through verification. In addition, 53% also request for clear profile photographs while over a third disallow shirtless selfies taken in front of mirrors. 50% of participants also accept post-date check-ins as an authentic sign of caring.

Authenticity and relationship building

More than meet the eyes has to women on Tinder. 47% consider incomplete profiles a major red flag, preferring detailed bios that reflect real interests. Effectively, 37% favor profiles with multiple photos while 35% value shared lifestyle and interest. Originality and authenticity filled bios are preferred by 41% who value unique self-expression over clichés.
