Mumbai Indians IPL Retention: IPL is the most-watched cricket league in the world. Many star players have made their careers by playing here. The IPL Governing Council has already announced the retention policy. In this, all 10 teams can retain 6 players each. If a franchise retains all 6 players, then they will not get the option of RTM at the time of auction. On the other hand, if a franchise retains 3 players, then they will get a chance to withdraw 3 players from RTM. The Mumbai Indians team can retain 5 players. This can include 4 capped and one uncapped.

According to a report by EPSNcricinfo, if a franchise retains 5 players, then for the first three retentions: Rs 18 crore, Rs 14 crore, and Rs 11 crore will have to be spent, and for the next two: Rs 18 crore and Rs 14 crore. On the other hand, franchises will have to pay Rs 4 crore to retain uncapped players.

1. Jasprit Bumrah (capped)

The Mumbai Indians team can bet on Jasprit Bumrah for the first retention. Bumrah is known for his deadly yorker balls and changes the course of the match in just a few balls. He also proves to be quite economical. He has won many matches for the Mumbai team on his own. Bumrah has been playing for Mumbai Indians since 2013 and has so far taken 165 wickets in a total of 133 matches.

2. Hardik Pandya (capped)

For the second retention, Mumbai Indians can go for captain Hardik Pandya. Hardik bats aggressively and is known for winning stuck matches. Apart from this, if needed, he can also bowl four overs for the team. Last season, the Mumbai team made him the captain. Hardik has played a total of 137 matches in IPL so far and has scored 2525 runs, which includes 10 half-centuries. Apart from this, he has taken 64 wickets.

3. Suryakumar Yadav (capped)

As the third retention, the Mumbai Indians team can keep Suryakumar Yadav with them. In the last few years, Surya has performed brilliantly in T20 cricket and he has every arrow in his quiver that can destroy the opposing team. Surya can hit strokes in any corner of the field. He is also the current captain of the Indian T20 team. He has so far scored 3594 runs in 150 IPL matches, which includes two centuries and 24 half-centuries.

4. Rohit Sharma(capped)

Mumbai Indians have won the IPL trophy five times under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. Last season, Mumbai took a big decision and made Hardik Pandya the captain in place of Rohit. Mumbai had traded Hardik from Gujarat. But IPL 2024 has been nothing less than a nightmare for Mumbai under Hardik’s captaincy. Far from reaching the playoffs, the team was in the last position in the points table. At the same time, after Rohit was stripped of the captaincy, the fans booed Hardik in many matches. Then there were reports in the media that Rohit wanted to part ways with Mumbai Indians. Rohit is now 37 years old. He can play in the IPL for three to four more years. But considering his experience, the Mumbai team can retain him. Rohit has so far scored 6628 runs in 257 IPL matches, including two centuries.

5. Nehal Wadhera (uncapped)

Mumbai Indians can retain four capped players along with one uncapped player (who has not played international cricket yet). Nehal Vadhera can be included in this. 24-year-old Nehal has played a total of 20 IPL matches so far, in which he has scored 350 runs and has also hit two centuries. He can play a big innings. Mumbai Indians can acquire either Ishan Kishan or Dewald Brevis through RTM.
