If you and your family benefit from a government ration card, there is an important update you cannot afford to miss this September. The government has set a firm deadline for a crucial task that every cardholder must complete to ensure they continue to receive their monthly quota of food grains without any disruption.

What is the New Rule?

The most important rule currently being enforced across the country is the mandatory linking of your Aadhaar card with your ration card and completing the e-KYC (Know Your Customer) process for all family members listed on the card.

The deadline to complete this essential task has been set for September 30, 2025.

The main goal of this rule is to clean up the public distribution system (PDS). It helps ensure that the food grains and other benefits are reaching the actual, verified beneficiaries and eliminates duplicate or fraudulent entries in the system.

What Happens if You Don't Complete This by the Deadline?

This is the critical part. If you fail to link your Aadhaar and complete the e-KYC for all family members by September 30th, your benefits could be stopped or suspended from October onwards.

Your name or the names of the family members whose e-KYC is not complete could be removed from the list of beneficiaries. This means you might not receive your monthly allocation of rice, wheat, or other items.

How to Easily Complete the Process (It's Free!)

The government has made this process very simple and completely free of cost. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Visit Your Local Ration Shop: The easiest way to do this is to go to your designated Fair Price Shop (the shop from where you collect your monthly ration).
  2. Take Your Documents: Carry your ration card and the Aadhaar cards of every single member of your family who is listed on the ration card.
  3. Ask for e-KYC: Inform the ration dealer that you want to complete the e-KYC process.
  4. Biometric Verification: The dealer will use the ePoS (Electronic Point of Sale) machine. Each family member will need to verify their identity by scanning their fingerprint.
  5. Confirmation: Once the fingerprint matches the Aadhaar data, the e-KYC is complete. The dealer will confirm that your Aadhaar has been successfully linked or "seeded" with your ration card.

Don't wait until the last few days of the month. Visit your ration shop as soon as possible to complete this process and ensure your family continues to receive its rightful benefits without any issues.
