The strike of doctors of Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical and Hospital is still going on. Meanwhile, the Mamata government has sent mail to the students and called them for talks, which the junior doctors have refused. Let us tell you that the deadline given by the Supreme Court to appeal to the doctors to return to work has also expired at 5 pm.

10 doctors were called

According to the information received, the Health Secretary from the Health Bhawan sent an email to 10 junior doctors calling them for a meeting at Nabanna, but the junior doctors did not agree to this. The junior doctors say that the email was sent by the same Health Secretary whose removal we have demanded, which is very insulting to us, we want his resignation. We are always ready for talks.

In another conversation, one of the junior doctors said, “We are protesting outside the Health Bhawan, so what was the need for the Health Secretary to communicate with us through email? We are ready for talks. We have informed everyone about our demands. We will continue the protest until our demands are met.”

Mamta is waiting

On this, Minister of State for Health and Family, Chandrima Bhattacharya, said that our government has contacted the protesting doctors by email and called a delegation of 10 people for talks. CM Mamata is waiting to meet the delegation of doctors, but no response has been received from the doctors in the mail yet.

What did the Supreme Court say?

During the hearing on Monday, the Supreme Court said that the doctors should return to their work and we will ensure all the facilities are provided to them. If they do not do so, strict action will be taken against them. It was further ordered that the Bengal Police will ensure that the necessary conditions are created for the safety of all the doctors, which should include separate duty rooms, toilet-washroom facilities, and installation of CCTV cameras. But first of all, the doctors will have to return to work.
