Suspense crime, Digital Desk : An Air India flight headed for London had to cut its journey short and return to Mumbai on Tuesday afternoon after encountering a technical issue shortly after takeoff.
The flight, AI131, was operated by a Boeing 787 Dreamliner and had departed from Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport at approximately 2 PM. While en route, the flight crew identified an unspecified technical problem.
Prioritizing the safety of everyone on board, the pilots made the decision to abort the flight to London and turn back to Mumbai. The aircraft circled back and landed safely at its departure airport around 4:30 PM, roughly two and a half hours after it first took off.

Passengers disembarked safely upon their return. Air India has confirmed that it is arranging an alternate aircraft to complete the journey, working to minimize the disruption for its customers.
This type of incident, known as a "return to origin," is a standard safety protocol in the aviation industry. It allows crews to address potential mechanical or technical issues on the ground with full support, rather than continuing a long-haul flight with a potential risk.
