In a decisive intervention to safeguard the future of the sport, Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya held a high-level meeting in New Delhi on Monday with Hockey India officials and Hockey India League (HIL) franchise owners to address the mounting financial crisis facing the tournament. Structure of the Special Committee and Focus on Commercial Viability

As part of the ministerial directives, a dedicated five-member committee is being established to draft a comprehensive resumption and revival plan for the tournament. This specialized panel will comprise two representatives each from Hockey India and the franchise owners, alongside a senior official representing the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The Sports Minister emphasized that the committee must prioritize optimizing the league's administrative framework, commercial structure, and revenue models to ensure enduring stability. The newly formed panel has been instructed to complete its deliberations and submit its definitive report to the ministry within the stipulated timeframe, paving the way for a revitalized era in Indian professional hockey.
