Born into a modest farming family, his father, Suresh Yadav, earns a livelihood by selling milk, while his mother, Sushma Devi, manages the household. Despite facing severe financial constraints and limited sporting infrastructure, his parents ensured that economic hardships never dimmed their son’s athletic ambitions. Kuldeep spent his formative years training rigorously at Prayagraj’s Madan Mohan Malaviya Stadium, eventually earning an ONGC scholarship and refining his elite technique under the guidance of coach Vijay M. at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) center in Bengaluru.
Shattering National Records and Securing Asian Games Qualification
Kuldeep's path to the national team has been marked by a series of historic milestones. Recently, he and fellow vaulter Dev Meena jointly created a new national record by clearing an astonishing height of 5.45 meters, effortlessly surpassing the tough qualification standard set for the 2026 Asian Games and the Commonwealth Games benchmark of 5.25 meters. Prior to this feat, Kuldeep broke Dev’s previous record at the Indian Indoor Open in Bhubaneswar with a 5.41-meter clearance. Currently training alongside Dev Meena at the DSWY Academy in Madhya Pradesh under coach Ghanshyam Yadav, Kuldeep has developed a habit of rewriting record books, having broken his own national youth and junior records five times throughout his meteoric rise.

Despite the close brush with serious injury, he remained unfazed, returning to clear 5.10 meters to secure a gold medal and a new meet record. His illustrious junior resume already boasts a bronze medal at the Asian Youth Championships in Kuwait, a silver at the South Korea International Invitation Meet, and a gold at the National Junior Federation Cup in Lucknow.
