The fallout from the high-voltage 2026 Women's Asia Cup encounter between arch-rivals India and Pakistan has resulted in strict disciplinary action from the governing body of world cricket. Pakistan captain Fatima Sana has been officially penalized by the International Cricket Council (ICC) after being found guilty of breaching the ICC Code of Conduct following an unprovoked and aggressive send-off gesture directed at Indian opening batter Shafali Verma during their clash on September 5.

According to an official media release, Fatima Sana was fined 10 percent of her match fee for violating Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which strictly prohibits the use of language, actions, or gestures that are offensive, insulting, or likely to provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon dismissal. In addition to the financial penalty, one demerit point was added to her disciplinary record, marking her second offense within a 24-month window following a previous violation against Ireland in August 2025.
