
It is with a heavy heart that we report the death of actress Kang Myung Joo, who recently played an important role in the series ‘Extraordinary Attorney Woo’. Myung Joo passed away on the 27th of February at 5:52 pm KST while battling cancer. She was 54 years old at that time. The news was confirmed by Kang Myung’s daughter, actress Park Se Young.
Her daughter Santy Kang informed her family that Kang Myung passed away while fighting bravely with cancer. Furthermore, she revealed that her mother took her final breath at 5.52 pm on February 27. Various media houses have revealed that she succumbed to the illness on the 27th of February after a long struggle.
Her funeral service is to take place at Seoul St Mary’s hospital on the 27th. Kang Shi Yung, along with Park Se Young, her daughter, have come together in mourning the loss of their beloved family member.
Park Se Young mourned her mother’s death on her Instagram Stories by writing, “Mom went on a long journey yesterday afternoon. I would love it if you could remember Kang Myung Joo when she was on stage dazzling her audience.”
Kang Myung Joo had been an incredibly notable name in theater as well as in television for her versatility and profound dedication to the field. Her career began in 1992 and for over three decades she never failed to impress her audience. She starred in numerous plays, including Hamlet and Coriolanus, that had remarkable receptions. She was a household name but her role as a judge in the superhit drama Extraordinary Attorney Woo in 2022 made her a household name as well as a critical favorite.
Some of the recent performances of Kang Myung Joo were in BEA and 20th Century Blues. However, the last known television appearance of the actress was in the series Wonderful World in 2024.
