The founder of the Pushti Marg sect in India, Vallabhacharya was an influential spiritual leader and philosopher in his time. Affectionately known as Vallabha, the revered devotee of Lord Krishna pioneered the concept of unconditional devotion termed as Pushti Bhakti, primarily via the adoration of Shrinathji, a significant manifestation of Krishna.

In 1479 C.E, Vallabhacharya was born in a Telugu Brahmin family Kashi, now known as Varanasi. His followers, revering him as a spiritual saint, have spread his teachings far and wide, influencing the wider Vaishnav community.

Marked in 2025 by Shri Vallabhacharya’s 546th birth anniversary, April 24th, thursday will be a momentous occasion. Not only does this day celebrate his birthday, but Varuthini Ekadashi, a significant fast day in the Hindu tradition will be observed on the same day.

The event falls in Vaishakha under the Purnimanta lunar calendar, which is followed in North India. From observing the Amanta calendar, this day is in Chaitra, however, observing in both systems the lunar date is the same: Krishna Paksha Ekadashi.

Shri Vallabhacharya is renowned for his philosophies centered around the unsconditional devotion to Lord Krishna. Partaking in the overall Bhakti movement, his ideas have significally influenced modern Hindu spirituality.
