Suspense crime, Digital Desk : The holy gates of Shri Kedarnath Dham opened for devotees at 7:00 A.M. on 2nd May, 2025. Speaking during the event, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also joined the devotees in customary rituals along with the opening prayers for the annual Char Dham Yatra and offered diligent prayers.
As the gates were opened, the Indian Army band played bhajans that spiritually enhanced the ambience. Also, flower petals were showered from a helicopter in celebration of the occasion.
Panchmukhi Doli Arrives at Kedarnath
On 1st May, one day before the official opening, the Panchmukhi Doli bearing the idol of Lord Kedarnath crossed the temple from Gaurikund. A free procession chanting session for thousands of devotees was arranged alongside the route of “Jai Baba Kedar”. Honorable Chief Minister Dhami noted how the emotion was painful yet beautiful and bold for the spirit.
The CM also posted on socal media, “After the ritual worship at Gaurikund, the Panchmukhi idol of Baba Kedarnath reached Shri Kedar Dham. Their Doli arrived with the temple echoing ‘Jai Baba Kedar’.”
Security Measures Strengthened
In comparison to the prior yr, an even larger crowd is anticipated this year making their way through the pilgrim season, which made it necessary to tighten the defense atmosphere around Kedarnath and enforce smooth movement of guests.

Badrinath Dham: Opening on May 4
Shri Tungnath Temple (Third Kedar): Reopening on May 2

About the Char Dham Yatra
The pilgrimage circuit consists of Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath. One of the most important Hindu pilgrimages, it sees an influx of devotees to the temples during the year. This journey is viewed to providing an opportunity to reset the spiritual self, with pilgrims coming from every part of India and other countries.
Now that Kedarnath Dham is open, the 2025 Char Dham Yatra has officially commenced, welcoming devotees to enjoy the divinity and the scenic beauty of the Himalayas.
