Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Shikhar Dhawan, the ex-Indian cricketer, has confirmed his first public relationship with Irish product consultant Sophie Shine and this comes after he parted ways with Aesha Mukerji in 2023. Dhawan has been the the subject of renewed meme activity and social media attention since the couple's relationship came to light, including the revival of 'Gabbar' memes.  

The two are said to have first crossed paths at a cricket-related event in Dubai, and have since been spotted together at the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, where speculation about their attendance heated up.  

Instagram Post Confirms Romance  

Dhawan publicly announced the romance by uploading an Instagram photo with Sophie Shine, captioning it “My Love” along with a heart emoji. Upon seeing the post, fans bombarded him with congratulatory messages and jokes, eager see new candid photos of him.  

Dhawan got the nickname ‘Gabbar’ after he imitated a line from the famous Indian film Sholay during a Ranji Trophy match which amused his team mates and later gained traction among his fans.  

Who is Sophie Shine?  

Sophie Shine graduated from the Limerick Institute of Technology with a Marketing and Management degree. The Irish national currently works as Second Vice President- Product Consultant at Northern Trust Corporation, based in Abu Dhabi.

She actively participates in Indian culture by posting photos where she is often dressed in Indian attire and is seen around the country at different tourist places.

Fans Celebrate The Couple’s Chemistry

The couple’s interactions on social media have depicted a fun side of their relationship. Social media was abuzz with a particular reel featuring them donning Punjabi suits and indulging in some cultural frolicking which made them even more lovable to the audience.

So far, the response has been quite positive with a lot of the audience showing excitement over Dhawan for being in a happy, loving relationship after so long.
