Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Travel-focused fintech company Scapia is shaking up the credit card market with a unique two-card solution designed for the modern Indian consumer. The company has launched a new RuPay credit card that functions as a "companion card" to its existing Visa offering, with both cards linked to a single account.

This innovative approach directly addresses the massive consumer shift towards UPI, which has become the default payment method for millions in India. Here's how it works:

Instead of issuing a separate credit card with its own application process and credit limit, Scapia provides its customers with two cards under one umbrella. The primary card remains the Scapia Visa card, which is used for traditional point-of-sale (POS) swipes, online transactions, and international payments.

The new RuPay card is specifically designed to be linked to UPI apps. This allows users to make QR code payments directly from their Scapia credit line, a feature previously limited to only a few issuers.

The most significant innovation is the unified backend. Both the Visa and RuPay cards share the same credit limit, and all transactions are consolidated into a single monthly statement. This eliminates the hassle of managing multiple credit accounts and payment due dates.

This two-card system is built on Scapia's existing proposition, which is highly attractive to travelers. The account continues to offer its hallmark features, including zero foreign exchange markup on international spending and unlimited domestic lounge access. All spending, whether on the Visa or RuPay card, earns "Scapia Coins," which can be redeemed for flights and hotels.

By launching this RuPay companion card, Scapia, founded by former Flipkart senior executive Anil Goteti, is smartly catering to the payment habits of its target audience of millennials and Gen Z. It provides the flexibility of UPI for daily expenses while retaining the global acceptance and travel perks of a Visa card, all within a single, easy-to-manage credit account.
