Sameera Reddy, one of the most talked-about actresses of the early 2000s, has shed light on the real reason behind her exit from the Telugu film industry. In an old interview with YouTuber Prema Malini, Sameera disclosed that rumors linking her to Jr NTR during the filming of Ashoka in 2006 had a significant impact on her career and personal life.
The Fallout from a Misunderstood Friendship
Ashoka, directed by Surender Reddy, may not have performed well at the box office, but it made headlines due to the rumored chemistry between Sameera and Jr NTR, now known as the Devara star. According to Sameera, what was simply a genuine friendship was misrepresented by the media.
"But we got along and became friends. However, that friendship was blown out of proportion. It became such a big deal that it was too much being spoken, and my family got upset," she recalled.
Facing Family Pressure and Public Scrutiny
The media frenzy led to awkward questions from her family, particularly her strict Andhra Reddy father, forcing Sameera to reassess her career choices.
“As much as I have been a bold actress in so many films, my father is still an Andhra Reddy man at the end of the day, and I have to answer to him. Somewhere, he got questioned a lot by his family,” she added.
Sameera clarified that the speculative rumors overshadowed her acting skills, shifting the public focus from her work to her alleged personal relationship.
"They weren't talking about what I am capable of. The focus went from Sameera Reddy to Sameera NTR,” she stated.
Current Life and Social Media Popularity
Sameera Reddy is now no longer active in mainstream cinema. Instead, she has successfully transitioned into a social media influencer, known for her authentic content around fitness, family life, and her bond with her mother-in-law.
Jr NTR’s Career in Spotlight
Meanwhile, Jr NTR, hailed as the pride of Telugu cinema, continues to soar in popularity for his versatile acting. He is currently busy with high-profile projects, including:
War 2 (his Bollywood debut opposite Hrithik Roshan)
Dragon, a Pan-India film directed by Prashanth Neel
Though once at the center of unfounded speculation, Jr NTR is now celebrated for his unmatched screen presence and connection with mass audiences.
