Salman Khan’s latest release Sikandar, which hit theaters on Eid, has opened to lackluster box office collections. Khan’s films tend to break records with their opening day collections, but Sikandar’s Day 1 numbers were ₹26 crore, which pales in comparison to Khan’s Tiger 3 that earned ₹44.50 crore on opening day and other 2025 releases like Game Changer ( ₹51 crore), Chhaava (₹31 crore), and Sankranthiki Vasthunam ( ₹27 crore).
Sikandar did outdo Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan ( ₹13.5 crore) and Dabangg 3 (₹24.50 crore) in terms of Sikandar’s opening day collections, but did not surpass Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan (₹27.25 crore) or Kick (₹26.40 crore). Sikandar is an action film directed by A.R Murugadoss featuring a star cast that includes Rashmika Mandanna, Prateik Babbar, Kajal Agarwal, Anjini Dhawan, and Sharman Joshi alongside Khan, who plays a vigilante fighting corruption at the political level.
Blinkit taking heat for their free ticket offer
With Sikandar’s box office numbers not meeting expectations, a grocery delivery service named Blinkit launched an interesting promotion–free tickets to the movie for those spending over ₹1000. The campaign partnered with District app intended to increase traffic to theaters. Instead of generating buzz, the offer has been met with heavy ridicule from social media users.
Many fans questioned whether such a promotional offer could actually help the movie, even raising the inference as to whether it was so bad that free tickets had to be dispensed. Others compared other businesses that attempted that kind of marketing, concluding that even such giveaways may not be able to drive the spectators.
Social media platform reactions: “Even for free, who’s watching this?” One comment best captures the peak of social media debates about Blinkit’s, Sikandar promotion. On Rachel's tweet ‘Blinkit is offering free #Sikandar tickets to customers with orders above ₹1,000…helping to inflate the box office returns, but who is going even with free tickets?’, posted another Blinkit user: “No one have to pay anything for this movie, who’s gonna watch this?”
Another one takes it a step further adding, “The last time I saw a movie on a scale of 1 to 10 and it was not even a 3 A speech so excruciating, tedious and suffering. At this point we are just paying to fill some seats and earning/getting free rides/food through Swiggy and Blinkit Idiots on the street calling the poor Salman fans who let the rot by their squandered Eid.” Their sarcasm makes little to zero sense.
This way, latest reaction better sums up prediction of how the Man has been taking people for fools. Its blunt too comfy for the audience. Blinits free fill-in offer might be a good strategy to slap some numbers but I doubt does this explore imposes any real impact on Sikandar’s Box office run.
