Suspense crime, Digital Desk : New Delhi, India – Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, has categorically debunked widespread rumors claiming that the government is planning to levy toll tax on two-wheelers across the country. In a strong statement, his office slammed the reports as "completely baseless" and a "malicious" attempt to spread misinformation.

The clarification comes after several reports on social media and some media outlets began circulating, creating significant confusion and anxiety among millions of motorcycle and scooter riders in India.

The Union Minister's office issued a formal rebuttal to put the matter to rest. "This is to clarify that there is no such proposal under consideration by the Government of India to levy toll tax on two-wheelers," the statement read, emphasizing that the reports were entirely false.

Currently, toll taxes on national highways are primarily applicable to four-wheelers and larger commercial vehicles. The policy is designed to recover the costs of construction and maintenance from vehicles that cause more wear and tear on the roads. Two-wheelers have historically been exempted from this framework.

Gadkari's swift and firm denial aims to quell the panic and stop the spread of fake news. The minister's office urged the public to be wary of such baseless reports and to rely only on official sources for information regarding transport policies.
