Suspense crime, Digital Desk : The upcoming release of superstar Diljit Dosanjh's new film, "Sardaar Ji 3," has hit a major roadblock. A powerful film industry body has formally requested that the movie be banned from theaters until a significant financial dispute involving its producers is resolved.
The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), which represents thousands of film technicians and workers, has sent a letter to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) asking it to withhold the censor certificate for "Sardaar Ji 3." This move would effectively prevent the film's release across India.
The core of the issue stems from a previous project by the same producers, Sangeeta Motion Pictures and R.S. Saini. FWICE alleges that the producers have failed to pay a staggering Rs 1.34 crore in wages to the hardworking technicians and crew who worked on their earlier film, "Ishq My Religion."
In its appeal to CBFC Chairperson Prasoon Joshi, the union has taken a firm stand, arguing that producers should not be allowed to begin new projects while leaving a trail of unpaid debts from past ones. The letter states that despite numerous attempts to recover the dues, the producers have not settled their payments, leaving the workers in a lurch.
This action puts "Sardaar Ji 3" in a precarious position. While Diljit Dosanjh is the star of the film, he is not implicated in the payment dispute. However, his highly anticipated movie is now caught in the crossfire as the union uses its leverage to fight for the rights and rightful earnings of its members. The fate of the film's release now depends on whether the producers will settle the outstanding dues.
