Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Controversial Indian rapper and singer Emiway Bantai, real name Muhammad Bilal Shaikh, is alleged to have received a death threat from an individual citing themselves as Goldy Brar, said to be a gangster based in Canada and an alleged associate of jailed criminal Lawrence Bishnoi. The information was verified after a police complaint was lodged.
Details of the Threat
As per a report by News18, on May 25 Bantai’s record label received a threatening message directed towards his cellphone that demanded a ransom of 1 crore or else dire consequences would follow in a span of 24 hours.
The message is said to have read: “I am gangster Goldy Brar. Your singer has 24 hours. I want Rs 1 crore or else I will kill him.” Police also added that the name of Godara Rohit, another Bishnoi’s associate who is ostensibly in the US was cited in the message too.
Police Response and Investigation
A Bantai Records employee is said to have recieved the message first, and he contacted the police right away. A police complaint was lodged at the NRI Coastal Police Station located in Navi Mumbai, the city where Emiway lives. The investigation is still in progress, and authorities are trying to establish the source of the threat.
Possible Link to Tribute Track for Sidhu Moosewala
Timeline on the threat has raised eyebrows too as it came shortly after Emiway released a tribute track for Sidhu Moosewala. Some do speculate that the tribute caused some eyes to be raised due to the gundagardi associated with Moosewala.
Emiway in his statement accompanying the track expressed his admiration for Sidhu suffocating the box, “Sidhu Moosewala is more than an artist–he’s a movement. His voice, his message and his spirit inspires me and so many others every single day,” claiming that he intended to work with Moosewala before his tragic demise.
Background on Sidhu Moosewala’s Death
In a bid to stimulate public concern over the hearing loss of the youth in this country, Sidhu Moosewala tried to approbate multiple things. Sidhu was shot dead in the Mansa district of Punjab on the 29th of May 2022 while roaming through Jawaharke village. He was given transport to the health facility quickly, but ordinary life was lost before the surgical procedure. Melodrama logged the 'sacred' stories from his devotees.
