Santragachi-Khatipura Express Launched With 5 Key Halts in DDU Division
In a significant infrastructural boost for cross-country rail connectivity, passengers traveling through the Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya (DDU) railway division now have an expansive new travel corridor connecting Eastern and Western India. Indian Railways has officially flagged off the Santragachi–Khatipura (Jaipur) Weekly Express, bridging long-distance travel demands across West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan. The newly introduced rail link will halt at five strategically vital stations within the DDU division, offering commuters, traders, students, and tourists convenient access to major administrative, commercial, and industrial centers along the route.
Three Inaugural Specials Flagged Off: Regular Operations as Train Numbers 18061/18062
To commemorate the rollout of this inter-state railway link, railway authorities coordinated the inaugural operation of three special runs on Monday:
Inaugural Service Run: The initial launch featured three dedicated special trains—08061 Santragachi–Khatipura Special, 08181 Tatanagar–Khatipura Special, and 09701 Khatipura–Santragachi Inaugural Special.
Regular Service Numbers: In its routine commercial operation, the service will run under train numbers 18061/18062 as the Santragachi–Khatipura–Santragachi Weekly Express.
Timetable and Commercial Schedule: While the foundational route and sectional halts have been established, the Railway Board will notify the exact commencement dates, weekly operating days, and regular station arrival-departure timetables in an upcoming operational circular.
Big Win for DDU Division: Five Critical Passenger Stops Announced
Passengers residing in Chandauli, Rohtas, and adjoining districts in eastern Uttar Pradesh and southwestern Bihar will gain direct access without needing transit switches at crowded terminal hubs:
Designated Division Halts: The train will provide commercial stoppages at five key stations within the DDU division: Japla, Dehri-on-Sone, Sasaram, Bhabua Road, and Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction (DDU).
Direct Access to Bengal and Jharkhand: Commuters boarding from these regional junctions can travel straight toward Santragachi, Kharagpur, Tatanagar, Ranchi, Daltonganj, and Garhwa Road.
Seamless Travel to Western India: The alignment delivers a direct travel route to northern and western centers including Prayagraj, Mirzapur, Fatehpur, Kanpur Central, Tundla, Agra, and Khatipura (Jaipur).
Five-State Connectivity: Strengthening Mobility Across Key Industrial and Tourist Corridors
The new rail corridor cuts across five major states, creating a unified transit artery for workforce movement and economic exchange:
Multi-State Network: The route connects West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan, facilitating hassle-free passenger travel between regional textile markets, manufacturing clusters, and educational institutions.
Relieving Pressure on Jaipur and Kolkata Routes: Long-distance travelers heading toward the pink city of Jaipur and the Kolkata metropolitan hub will benefit from the added weekly capacity, easing waiting list backlogs on existing trunk line trains.
Economic Boost for Local Stations: By connecting regional junctions like Sasaram, Bhabua Road, and Japla directly to Tier-1 metropolitan terminals, local commerce, small-scale enterprises, and daily commuter networks receive a direct transportation upgrade.
