A revived and powerful monsoon surge has lashed Rajasthan over the past 24 hours, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue orange and yellow alerts across the state for Saturday, July 25, 2026. The popular hill station of Mount Abu in Sirohi district recorded the state's heaviest downpour with a massive 195 mm (nearly 8 inches) of rainfall. Urban centers including Jodhpur faced severe waterlogging following three hours of torrential downpours that left low-lying streets knee-deep in water, disrupting traffic and daily life. According to weather forecasters, heavy rain activity will persist across most divisions until July 27 before tapering off slightly from July 28.
Widespread Downpours Revive Over 40 Dry Dams: Morel And Mansagar Reservoir Reach Capacity
Continuous precipitation over the last three to four days has dramatically accelerated water inflows into Rajasthan's reservoirs and river systems. Significant rainfall figures across the state over the last 24 hours include 97 mm in Jawai (Pali), 81 mm in Bapini (Jodhpur), 66 mm in Karanpur (Sriganganagar), 57 mm in Kalyanpur (Barmer), 56 mm in Balotra, 52 mm in Jawaja (Ajmer), 50 mm in Sardar, 47 mm in Garhbor (Rajsamand), and 28 mm in Kumbhalgarh. Over 40 dams that had remained completely dry until recently have now received substantial water inflows, with Dausa's Morel Dam and Tonk's Mansagar Dam reaching 100% capacity.
IMD Forecast For Udaipur And Jodhpur Divisions: Rainfall Deficit Persists In 12 Districts
Radheshyam Sharma, Director of the Meteorological Centre Jaipur, confirmed that monsoon conditions will remain intense over parts of Udaipur and Jodhpur divisions, with localized heavy to very heavy rains expected over the next two days. Moderate to heavy showers are also predicted for Jaipur, Ajmer, Kota, Bikaner, and Bharatpur divisions. Despite the recent cloudbursts, severe regional disparities exist; while districts like Beawar, Bikaner, Didwana-Kuchaman, Phalodi, and Salumber have received above-average rainfall, drought-like conditions persist in 12 districts, including Jaisalmer, Jalore, Pali, Sirohi, and Udaipur, with 27 districts overall still reporting below-normal seasonal totals. Pleasant, cooler weather prevails in urban centers like Jaipur (32°C max) and Udaipur (29°C max), where rainwater inflow through the Nandeshwar Channel has begun filling the iconic Lake Pichola.
