Rail Connectivity Boost: 2 New Express Trains Connecting UP, Rajasthan, Bengal

Post

In a significant infrastructure boost for inter-state rail connectivity, Indian Railways is set to launch two brand-new express train services on Monday, October 26, 2026. Connecting four major states—West Bengal, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan—the newly sanctioned Santragachi-Khatipura and Tatanagar-Khatipura express routes have both been granted scheduled operational stoppages at Mirzapur railway station. According to senior railway officials, the deployment of these long-distance corridors will significantly streamline passenger transit, stimulate regional commerce, boost pilgrim tourism, and enhance socio-cultural exchange between eastern industrial belts and the western tourism circuit.

Inauguration on October 26: Route Details, Train Numbers, and Key Hubs

Dr. Shivam Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of North Central Railway (NCR) Prayagraj Division, confirmed the operational rollout of the two inaugural specials:

Santragachi-Khatipura Express (Train No. 08061): Slated for its inaugural run on Monday, October 26, this dedicated service commences from West Bengal's Santragachi terminal, providing direct transit toward Jaipur's satellite rail hub at Khatipura in Rajasthan.

Tatanagar-Khatipura Special Express (Train No. 08181): Simultaneously flagged off on the same day from Jharkhand's steel city of Tatanagar (Jamshedpur), this service charts an identical westward corridor toward Khatipura.

Direct Halt at Mirzapur: Both cross-country services have been allotted strategic stoppages at Mirzapur station, providing passengers across the Vindhya region direct, hassle-free rail access to Rajasthan, Jharkhand, and West Bengal without having to transit through crowded junction hubs.

Socio-Economic Catalyst: Railway authorities highlighted that linking industrial belts in Jamshedpur and Howrah directly to Jaipur via Uttar Pradesh will provide major impetus to trade logistics, small-scale enterprises, and tourist travel.

Construction Alert: 9-Day Stoppage Suspension at Jigna Station for Yard Remodeling

Alongside the introduction of new services, ongoing railway modernization works on the busy Prayagraj-Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) Junction section will temporarily alter local commuter schedules:

Third-Line Modernization: Essential yard remodeling operations and track infrastructure work for the high-density third railway line are currently underway between Jigna and Gaipura railway stations under the Prayagraj Division of North Central Railway.

Temporary Stoppage Cancellations: As a direct consequence of the safety and non-interlocking infrastructure work, designated train services will skip scheduled halts at Jigna station for a duration of nine days, spanning from October 28 to November 5, 2026.

Affected MEMU and Passenger Services: NCR CPRO Dr. Shivam Sharma stated that Train No. 64595 Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction-Subedarganj MEMU will not halt at Jigna station throughout this nine-day operational window.

Service Suspensions: Additionally, Train No. 63237 Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction-Subedarganj MEMU and Train No. 13309 Chunar-Prayagraj Express will face temporary operational suspensions during the remodeling phase to facilitate swift completion of the third-line commissioning.
