Festive Season Relief: Indian Railways Announces Special Trains from Haridwar and Rishikesh to Rajasthan

With the festive season fast approaching, the railway administration has stepped up efforts to combat heavy passenger congestion on popular routes. To ease the massive rush of pilgrims and holiday travelers heading home or visiting religious sites, Indian Railways has announced the operation of special trains connecting Haridwar and Yoganagari Rishikesh to key destinations in Rajasthan, including Barmer and Ajmer.

Barmer-Haridwar Special Train Schedules and Trip Counts

To accommodate travelers moving between Uttarakhand and Rajasthan, specific bi-weekly services have been lined up with extended operational windows covering both the upcoming weeks and the peak puja season:

Train No. 04811 (Barmer to Haridwar): Scheduled to run on Mondays and Thursdays starting August 31 through September 28, completing nine trips. An additional 18 trips have been planned during the Puja rush period from October 1 to November 30.

Train No. 04812 (Haridwar to Barmer): The return service will operate on Tuesdays and Fridays from September 1 to September 29 for nine trips, followed by 18 scheduled trips from October 2 to December 1.

Ajmer-Rishikesh Special Train Connections

In addition to the Barmer services, passengers traveling between the spiritual hub of Rishikesh and Ajmer will benefit from dedicated weekly operations designed to streamline connectivity.

Train No. 09611 (Ajmer Junction to Yoganagari Rishikesh): Will operate every Wednesday, with seven additional festival trips scheduled between October 14 and November 25.

Train No. 09612 (Yoganagari Rishikesh to Ajmer Junction): The return service will run every Thursday, offering seven scheduled trips from October 15 to November 26.

Easing Festive Congestion on Regular Routes

Every year, the festive season triggers immense scrambles for confirmed tickets on regular mail and express trains as millions travel to celebrate with family or visit holy shrines. Railway officials note that introducing these structured special train trips will significantly absorb excess passenger traffic, minimize platform overcrowding, and provide comfortable, alternative travel options for thousands of commuters navigating northern routes.
